It is believed that Prince of Guria Mamia II presented his daughter Ana, who married Teimuraz of I Kakheti, a lush and breathtakingly beautiful estate that overlooked the province as a part of her dowry. Although Ana died shortly thereafter, her legacy in the region lives on with the name - Anaseuli. After centuries, in 1809, Mamia V of Guria ordered Jacob Marr, a Scottish agronomist and gardener, to bring tea seedlings from France. When looking for a suitable location to plant and develop, it was determined that Anaseuli would be ideal.
While the cultivation of this once known started many years, tea production has become one of the most signcant agricultural industries in Georgia. Most importantly, the tea produced in Anaseuli is considered the best tasting and most satisfying.
